The American Civil Liberties Union is known for a lot of things, but standing up to Democrats is not one of them. The ACLU has prided itself for decades of work that is iconically progressive and fundamentally at odds with the conservative agenda. Knowing a case comes from the ACLU is enough to give most conservatives an instant headache, knowing it will likely erode more of the freedoms that conservatives attempt to “conserve.”
However, it came as a pleasant surprise when news broke that the ACLU was attempting to stick it to the Biden administration with a shiny new case that will show Americans that even the left sometimes can’t handle the stench of the self-aggrandizing, self-destructive, self-serving Biden/Harris administration.
According to a report in The Western Journal, the ACLU is suing the Biden administration on an issue related to the administration’s illegal immigration policy. The class-action suit was filed in New Jersey and “seeks to immediately block the long-distance transfer” of Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees from a New Jersey jail, according to an ACLU news release.
The ACLU is attempting to keep detainees from being transferred to facilities away from where relatives are being kept, therefore keeping families closer together. Attorneys in New Jersey appear to be attempting to pass a bill that would keep federal immigrant detainees from being kept in local and state facilities, which could be one of the reasons that the suit was filed in that state.
“Transferring hundreds of people far away from their families and attorneys violates the rights and dignity of New Jerseyans, and we’re calling on the courts to stop this policy of gratuitous cruelty,” ACLU-NJ Executive Director Amol Sinha said in a statement.
“We have a duty to allow people to await their immigration proceedings in communities rather than in detention, to avoid disrupting lives and depriving people of their constitutional rights,” Sinha said.
ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero took aim at both political parties when he said “True to form, we will sue any administration — Democrat or Republican — and hold them accountable when they take positions that violate civil liberties and civil rights. This may be one of the first lawsuits filed against the Biden administration by advocacy groups, but I’m guessing it won’t be the last,” Romero said
The leftist group director was quick to point out, however, that they were taking to task the Biden administration for a Biden administration rule (though they were also still more than a little distraught over the Trump administration policies as well):
“We sued the Trump administration over 400 times, and the Biden administration is trying to resolve many of those suits,” he said.
While it’s not exactly the kind of case that will make conservatives jump for joy or send a donation to the leftist organization, no matter who wins or loses, there is a certain appeal to in-fighting on the left. For you see, no one knows your weaknesses better than someone who is normally your ally. It won’t take the ACLU long to go after the chinks in the Biden administration’s armor, and that’s only good news for the right, assuming we have our ducks in a row.
The one way in which the left has constantly, consistently, and in every other repetitively redundant way beat out the right is that they’ve always known that they were fighting for their lives and they’ve been willing to go all out.
If Republicans take chances, like the one here, where the left is showing everyone their weaknesses, and be ready to go to war with a divided enemy, there is a chance that ground can be won. But if they stand back and talk about conciliatory measures or how to get peace today, then we may as well call it and head home now.
