China not being entirely honest with the rest of the world? Why, you could knock us over with a feather. Some of us aren’t surprised but there are others who don’t seem to be too familiar with China’s handiwork. The mainstream media has spent most of the year lecturing Americans about how well the Chinese have handled the virus.
CNN is now doing an about-face. Gee, we wonder why that would be? It wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact that the election is over now, would it? “CNN exclusive: Vast trove of leaked documents shows China underreported Covid-19 numbers, took weeks to diagnose new cases and didn’t disclose a December flu spike in Hubei,” read a tweet from the news channel’s official channel.
We took a look at the article ourselves and there is no shortage of infuriating passages. “In a report marked “internal document, please keep confidential,” local health authorities in the province of Hubei, where the virus was first detected, list a total of 5,918 newly detected cases on February 10, more than double the official a public number of confirmed cases, breaking down the total into a variety of subcategories.
This larger figure was never fully revealed at that time, as China’s accounting system seemed, in the tumult of the early weeks of the pandemic, to downplay the severity of the outbreak,” read the worst of the worst. The idea that they only “seemed” to downplay the severity of the COVID-19 outbreak is truly rich. The video report from Nick Paton Walsh doesn’t let China off the hook as easily but the damage is done.
China fumbled and that’s all there is to it. Anyone who is looking to downplay that is clearly in their pocket at this point. CNN also seems to neglect the fact that none of the information that China had to offer was actually shared with the world in a timely manner. China can insist that they have been as transparent as possible with all they want. It doesn’t mean a darn thing now.
CNN has all the proof that we need but it would have been nicer if they had shared it before now. At this point, it does us zero good. Xi Jinping’s regime has a very clear motive for their actions. He needs to continue to project an image of strength, in order to maintain control. If the people learn that he is weak and ineffectual, there goes all of the work that they have already put into all of this.
Beijing and the World Health Organization came together to lie to the American people. We were given false quotes and figures every step of the way. Of course, the mainstream media was more than willing to play along. For them, it was more important to spend their time blaming Trump for the virus than it was to make sure that the people were being informed about what was truly happening.
The mainstream media took this as their chance to hammer away at the “orange man bad” routine. Beijing, on the other hand? They issued their lockdown orders and did not care what happened next. For them, it was all about keeping people in the dark and keeping them from being able to ask any real questions. They never answered for the 2000% spike in the “flu” that took place the month before we knew about the outbreak.
All of this leads up to one key fact: the media is only talking about this now because it has become convenient. If they were so willing to take China to task before, why did they wait this long? It was easier to make the pandemic into Donald Trump’s fault at the time. Now that they don’t have him to kick around anymore, things are about to get different. Those of us who actually pay attention can already see this blatant grift falling into place.
