The Democrats cannot stand the fact that Trump and Putin have had discussions that have not be disclosed to the public. Dem’s are claiming these “private” talks could mean trouble for America and cause a stand off between Congress and the White House.
- Adam Schiff, a Representative from California, who is the leader of the Intelligence Committee for the Democratic House, is trying to get backing from Republican officials for information about the private meetings between Trump and Putin. He claims President Trump is not “putting America first.”
- Democrats asked for the notes from these meetings and when they were met with silence, decided to force the issue. If that means taking legal action, they will do just that. Trump told Fox News that he was “not keeping anything under wraps, I couldn’t care less”. He only wants to avoid leaks and cause issues with Russia and Putin. If a leak would happen it would undo all of the efforts Trump has put into this relationship with Russia.
- Republicans defend these absurd claims. Representatives, such as Kevin McCarthy of California and Mike Pompeo, Secretary of State, have both been quoted defending President Trump. McCarthy said, “He (President Trump) likes to create a personal relationship, build that relationship, even rebuild that relationship, like he does with other world leaders around.” Likewise, Pompeo has said that any notion the president was a threat to AMerican Security “is absolutely ludicrous”.
- The Democrats continue to press on to find out what was discussed in these meetings. Even if the meeting notes would eventually be released, the Dem’s would claim Trump was conspiring with Mr. Putin and Russia. Trump knows they twist around everything to benefit the Democratic party. The Dem’s need to back off and let Trump continue to work his magic with the leader of a country who could potentially harm the United States if he wanted to.
