If Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign is to be believed, it is him and his party that will bring back decency and honesty to this nation.
In fact, the campaign has used this very belief as an appeal to the masses from nearly the get-go, supposedly putting Biden and his long history of “honest” politics to work for America while at the same time insinuating that Trump has none of these decent qualities.
So why is that when we see indecency and flat out lies, they seem to come straight from Biden and his followers?
A near-perfect example of this hypocrisy comes from the ending of the DNC’s national convention on Thursday in Wilmington, Delaware, which is Biden’s hometown.
As you well know, Thursday was the last night of the ever leftward leaning party’s celebration of Biden being nominated for president and his choice of Kamala Harris as vice president.
And while the convention wasn’t given its usual fanfare, due to the novel coronavirus pandemic still being a threat, it still managed to gain national attention and attract a few protesters – no doubt the RNC’s upcoming convention will go no differently.
Abbey and her son Riley were a few of such protesters. They had peacefully, and I mean peacefully protested outside the convention hall where Biden was speaking and afterward walked across the street to a local restaurant for something to eat. As they were decked out in pro-Trump attire and holding Trump signs, anyone could tell that they were protesters.
And unfortunately, this made them the target of a vicious attack by two women who apparently didn’t hold the same political views.
While standing outside the restaurant waiting for a table, two adult women confronted Abbey and her son, taking first their signs and ripping them up and then knocking the MAGA hat off of Abbey’s head. When Abbey’s son, Riley, – who is a mere seven years old – tried to retrieve the cap off the ground, one woman stepped on his hand, causing him to cry out.
A man tried to step in and help out by getting the hat for the boy. But he too was assaulted. One woman punched him in the face, busting open his lip, and then threw the hat over a tall fence nearby so the boy couldn’t get it. She then turned and hit the boy’s mother in the face, although not hard enough to cause injury.
If this is the kind of “decency” that Biden and his followers plan to bring to America, I want nothing to do with it. And neither should any self-respecting human. I mean, who in their right mind thinks it’s ok to assault anyone just for wearing attire that goes against your beliefs? But then to ignore the fact that this innocent is only a child?
Now, there are plenty of people out there would try to lay the blame, at least partially, at the mother’s feet, saying that she shouldn’t have had a child that young anywhere near a political protest in the first place. And, given the violence and downright hatred we have seen in the last few months, I might tend to agree with them.
However, that is far from the point of this situation.
Here in America, where the First Amendment of our Constitution gives us the right to protest peacefully and express our beliefs, our physical safety or that of even our small children should be the last thing we have to worry about. We should be able to walk the streets, holding signs, wearing hats, and letting our views known without the fear of physically attacked.
Thankfully, justice has been served, the two women were captured on camera and later caught and arrested for their heinous actions.
According to WDEL News, “Police arrested Camryn Amy on August 22, 2020, a day after Olivia M. Winslow was arrested and charged in connection to the same incident… Amy is facing the same charges as Winslow – first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, and endangering the welfare of a child – along with an additional two counts of offensive touching.”
In addition, President Trump has personally reached out to Riley and his mother, offering his condolences on the way they were treated and also sending them a new MAGA hat to replace the one taken from them, only this one has been autographed.
