It has taken some time, but the media is finally willing to take an honest look at Vice President Kamala Harris. Joseph Curl recently wrote an article for The Daily Wire that started with this, “Kamala Harris (remember her?
She’s the one who said Joe Biden was racist before joining his ticket and becoming his vice president) is imploding like SN 2018gv (a star in the spiral galaxy NGC 2525 that self-detonated in a supernova and then, poof, disappeared).”
It seems that after a whole year of not doing much of anything at all, the mainstream media is finally shining a light her way and writing some critical stories about the vice president.
Two CNN reporters on Sunday wrote an article that had this headline: “Exasperation and dysfunction: Inside Kamala Harris’ frustrating start as vice president.” This article cited several dozens of alleged staffers in the vice president’s office and the White House who said that Harris is in deep trouble, and has been for some time.
Many of those cited spoke on condition of anonymity so that they could discuss the issue with honesty, but they all told roughly the same story. Kamala Harris has a history of having overly cautious tendencies and staff problems. This has been a feature of every office she’s held, from San Francisco district attorney to U.S. Senate, the reporters wrote.
The Daily Mail wrote this, “Joe Biden’s relationship with Kamala Harris is in crisis, with her staff furious that she is being ‘sidelined,’ while the president’s team are increasingly frustrated by how she is playing with the American public.”
The vice president’s approval rating has plunged to 28% in one recent poll, this is the lowest in modern history. Being sidelined should come as no surprise to her office.
The nearly three dozen people interviewed include current Harris aides, administration officials, Democratic operatives, donors, and outside advisers. They reveal a rather complex situation inside the White House. Many of them are very angry that their boss has not been sufficiently prepared or positioned for her role.
CNN said, “The vice president herself has told several confidants she feels constrained in what she’s able to do politically. And those around her remain wary of even hinting at future political ambitions, with Biden’s team highly attuned to signs of disloyalty, particularly from the vice president.”
When this report came out, the White House quickly tried to circle the wagons. Jen Psaki, Biden’s Press Secretary, got on her Twitter account with her own spin. She said that for anyone who needs to hear it, “@VP is not only a vital partner to @POTUS but a bold leader who has taken on key, important challenges facing the country — from voting rights to addressing root causes of migration to expanding broadband.”
Politico, which was started by two former Washington Post reporters, wrote an article they titled: “Kamala Harris goes unnoticed in Paris.” While there the vice president attended a closed-door dinner and held no local media interviews. She did however at one point feign a French accent and gushed about some pots and pans she purchased.
There have been some rumors inside the Beltway that Biden is at the verge of getting rid of deadwood and choosing a new VP.
The CNN story noted that some of Harris’ defenders and people who care for her are getting frantic. Some are questioning whether the president might try to replace her by nominating her for the next Supreme Court vacancy.
That rumor caused the Mail to write that Harris’ approval rating has plunged even further than Biden’s in recent months so Biden is considering appointing her to the High Court as a backdoor method of selecting a new vice president.
During the 2020 campaign, there were reports that Biden who turns 79 on Saturday would only serve one term. Now that Harris is falling apart after just one year, the party must be frantically thinking about who could replace the president.
