Federal Judge Overturns State’s 32-Year Gun Ban
(UnitedVoice.com) – One of the most egregious insults to the Second Amendment was put right last week when a federal judge struck down California’s “assault weapon” ban. The law has been in place since 1989. Now, finally, a judge has had the courage to say what we all knew – it’s unconstitutional.

Since 1989, California residents have suffered under some of the most ridiculous gun laws in the US. Under the pretext of banning so-called “assault weapons,” a list of features, mostly cosmetic, were banned. This forced manufacturers to make unnecessary modifications, such as changing stock shapes to make guns uglier, no less effective but, somehow, not “assault weapons.” The ridiculous “bullet button” became a thing because of the law. On top of this, several weapons were specifically banned by name, including the AR15, America’s most popular rifle.
On June 4, Judge Roger Benitez of the US District Court for the Southern District of California ruled that the ban is unconstitutional, and described it as “a 30-year-old failed experiment.” The state has 30 days to appeal, and almost certainly will, but the ruling is a powerful blow against California’s gun grabbers – and the six other states with similar bans have been put on notice.
