GOP Questions Biden's Latest Border Crisis Move

(UnitedVoice.com) – President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have decided to send $310 million in aid to Central America. The administration believes the only way to stop the border crisis is to deal with the root causes of migration. However, Republican lawmakers have concerns about where exactly the money is going.

On May 3, Reps. James Comer (R-KY) and Jason Smith (R-MO) sent a letter to the Acting Office of Management and Budget Director, Shalanda Young, to get answers to this question. The congressmen said they’re concerned about the “conditional cash transfer program” in the midst of the border crisis when Biden has reversed “successful deterrent policies.” They’re worried about sending money to corrupt countries, instead of reinstating the programs that work.

Former President Donald Trump only sent aid to El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras when they implemented policies to stem the flow of migrants coming to America. It’s unclear whether Biden is putting similar conditions because he has not explained where it’s going.

With a presidency that’s, so far, been shrouded in cloudiness, some transparency would be nice for a change.
