State Senate Passes 7 Pro-Life Bills!

(UnitedVoice.com) – When former President Donald Trump appointed three Justices to the Supreme Court and more than 230 judges to the lower federal courts, there was a hope that real abortion reform could take place. Since that time, many states have passed laws protecting life and restricting the procedure. Recently, one state passed multiple bills in their Senate that would do just that.

The Texas Senate passed seven pro-life bills this week to protect babies. The bills are…

  • Preborn Non-Discrimination Act (SB 1173): doesn’t allow people to abort due to the baby’s sex, race, or disability.
  • Regulating Abortion-Inducting Drugs Act (SB 394): outlaws abortion drugs sent through the mail.
  • Texas Abolition Strategy (SB 1647): an omnibus bill that outlines three pro-life provisions.
  • Prohibited Logistical Support (SB 650): prohibits governmental entities from providing logistical support like childcare or transportation when accessing an abortion or the services of an abortion provider.
  • Heartbeat Act (SB 8): bans abortions after a heartbeat is detected.
  • Trigger Abortion Ban Act (SB 9): would ban all remaining abortions if the SCOTUS overturns Roe v Wade.
  • Every Mother Matters Act (SB 802): requires women to receive counseling by a mental health or medical professional prior to the procedure.

The bills are now headed to the state House. If lawmakers pass the measures, they will go to Governor Greg Abbott (R) for his signature. If they become law, pro-choice groups will almost certainly sue, leading to a court battle that could end up in front of the SCOTUS and lead to the high court overturning Roe v Wade. That’s the ultimate goal.
