Another Anti-gun Democrat reveals her true intentions about disarming the people of the great state of Illinois.
Senator Julie Morrison (D-29) introduced SB107 (Senate Bill 107) which would brand many modern semi-automatic rifles, semi-automatic handguns, and shotguns commonly owned by law-abiding citizens as “assault weapons” and ban them along with spare parts and accessories.
During a town hall meeting, a concerned gun owner of Illinois pointed to SB107 and told the Senator he felt the purpose of it was “to take away [his] semi-automatic firearms.”
In the video, Senator Morrison interrupted the concerned gun owner and said that the bill was not to take them, but to prevent any future sales.
The gun owner responded,
You want me to turn them over to the state police unless I pay a fine for each firearm and register them, then I get to keep them.
He also pointed out that the ban on future sales included a fine for current gun owners who did not hand their guns over.
Morrison concurred and said, “Okay.”
The gun owner asked Sen. Morrison a question that seemed to anger and frustrate her asking,
If I get to keep it–if I pay a fine and register it–then, how dangerous is it in the first place and why do you need to ban it all?
People clapped loudly in the town hall meeting to the concerned gun owner’s question. Once it got quiet, Morrison responded with,
Well, you just maybe changed my mind. Maybe we won’t have a fine at all, maybe it’ll just be a confiscation and we won’t have to worry about paying the fine.
The Illinois State Rifle Association caught the exchange on video:
Should the states or federal government be able to confiscate weapons or make gun owners pay fines to keep semi-automatic weapons?
If semi-automatic weapons are as dangerous as they say, why allow citizens to pay fines in order to keep them?
